The 146.73 repeater has been having some issues. Here is some background and the plan going forward.
We are using a Vertex repeater that does not expose the PL Tone existence to the controller so there needs to be a small device the encodes and decodes the PL tone in between the repeater and controller. That device (TS-64WDS) has failed and we cannot find a replacement.
We already had purchased a Motorola repeater to replace the Vertex. The repeater was sold to us as “Ham Capable”. It required a slight modification to be able to enter in the proper frequency range. Thank you to Tony (KC3PRI) for swapping out the resistors needed to make it think it is ham capable.
Our intention is to replace the Vertex this week with the Motorola. If there is some reason we need to stay temporarily on the Vertex we will need to find an alternative to the TS-64WDS and build a new interface.
The Vertex has been running in local repeater mode which means no courtesy tone, no announcements, no echollink and no kerchunk filter.
